중국 조선족 문학은 중국 역사와 궤를 같이 하면서도 자신들만의 독자적인 정체성을 형성하고 유지하기 위해 노력해 왔다. 중국 조선족 문단은 중국의 그 어떤 소수민족보다 먼저 작가협회를 만들어 한민족의 문학을 계승하여 왔고, 그 결과 중국 조선족만이 중국작가협회 지역분회와 연변작가협회에 이중 등록이 가능한 권리를 확보하였다. 이러한 사실은 중국 조선족 문학이 중국 문학의 한 부분이면서도 소수민족 문학으로서의 독자성을 유지하려는 노력으로 볼 수 있다. 이러한 중국 조선족 문학의 노정을 보여주는 것이 바로 『연변문예』의 역사이다. 『연변문예』는 문화대혁명으로 정간되기 이전까지 총 157호가 발간되어 200여 편이 넘는 소설이 발표되었고, 이 시기 거의 유일한 문학의 장 역할을 담당하게 된다. 따라서 『연변문예』는 중국 조선족 문학이 기반을 마련하고 전개하는 시기에, 자신들만의 문학적 특성을 분명하게 만들기 위한 틀을 제공해주었다고 할 수 있다.

Literature society of ethnic Korean have tried to maintain the unique identity of their own while getting along with the history of China. They have made the writter's association earlier than any other ethic minority living in China and have succeeded Korean literature. As a result, only ethnic Korean have secured the right to double register to both Chinese writer's association branch and Yanbian writer's association at the same time. Such a fact can be recognized as a their efforts to maintain the identity while being a part of China's literature world. The history of 『Yanbian Literature』 indicates the road of ethnic Korean literature it has walked. Before the suspension of publication due to Cultural Revolution, 『Yanbian Literature』 had been published to 157th issue with more than 200 novels, playing a sole and the only role for literary encounter at this time. Thus, 『Yanbian Literature』 can be said that it has provided the frame to make the ethnic Korean's literature characteristics more distinguishable during the period when they were preparing and fledgling out the foundation.
