This study arranges characteristics and identity of the times in a process to adopt Taekkyon as a regular event by comparing and analyzing traditional events with a process of development of the National Games that is the racial festival, so desires to investigate an athletic-historical meaning. First, the National Games was the First All Joseon Baseball Tournament held in Seoul during 6 days in November, 1920. After that, All Joseon All-round Games in 1934 were the first National Games of the day. Second, a distinctive gesture of Taekkyon includes the native spirit. Structure of ancestors’ thinking included in a gesture can be analogized through ethnicity, so there was the native thinking of our nation. Third, Taekkyon was acknowledged as Important Intangible Cultural Asset in 1983. This measure of the government recognized officially that Taekkyon is a native intangible cultural asset of our nation with historicity and traditionality. Fourth, Korea Taekkyon Association was recognized as an acknowledgement stage that is join Korea Sports Council in 2001 after 10 years of submitting a joining application of Korea Sports Council with approval of a corporate body in 1991. This association became a regular member of Korea Sports Council in 2007 when it took just 16 more years. At the first onset of affinity event in 2008, demonstration sport was proceeded four times in a row since from 2011. After 2~3 times of a demonstration sport, Korea Taekkyon Association received high praise of the whole sport operation from Korea Sports Council. However, Taekkyon was also a demonstration sport in 2015 National Games. Above all, an independent effort in change and development process of Taekkyon people will be an opportunity to possess the status as the national sports properly. Furthermore, it is anticipated that adoption as a regular event of the National Games will offer a irresistible strong wind of change to induce the combination of Taekkyon organizations.
