孔孟思想은 동양의 제1사상으로써 동양 2,500여년의 지배 사상이었다. 孔孟思想 중, 孔子思想은 ｢論語｣에서 孟子思想 은 ｢孟子｣를 근거로 한다. 이 연구는 ‘孟子思想을 통해 본 體育學의 道’를 연구하는 것이므로 ｢孟子｣를 중심으로 연구한 문헌연구이다. 孟子는 ｢孟子｣에서 반복과 실천 그리고 반성의 피드백을 교육의 중요한 틀로 여겼다. 특히 그는 교육을 강조하였다. ‘敎育’이란 용어가 ｢孟子｣에서부터 비롯됨이 이를 증명한다. 이 연구에서는 孟子思想이 孔子思想보다 특히 사회윤리의 측면이 강하는 입장에서 ‘仁義禮智에 비춰본 스포츠윤리’, ‘浩然之氣에 비춰본 心身論’, ‘교육사상에 비춰본 체육교육’, ‘民本정치에서 비춰본 국민체육’ 등, 孟子思想을 통해본 體育의 道를 스케치해 본 試論이다.

Confucianism was ruling idea as the first ideology of the Orient for 2,500 years. The Confucius's thought and Mencius's thought are based on [The Analects of Confucius] and [Mencius], respectively. This study is to research 'Tao of Physical Education through Mencius's thought' and is literature review focusing [Mencius]. Mencius considered repetition, practice, and feedback of self-reflection well as something very important. Especially, he emphasized education. It is proved that the term “education” is stemmed from [Mencius]. This study is contemporary opinion to sketch Tao(sport ethic through benevolence, righteousness, propriety and wisdom, mind-body theory through vast spirit, and physical education through educational thought) of physical education through Mencius's thought in that social ethics of Mencius's thought is stronger than that of Confucius's thought.
