In Korea, from the 2000s, cultural projects are multiplying urban regeneration in deprived areas. However cities or neighborhoods have gradually symptoms of gentrification due to marketing and 'touristification'. The objectives of our research are based on the identification of dissension among visitors and inhabitants in the middle of an art project, both revealing symptoms of gentrification brought by culture in the case of Ihaw-dong in Seoul. For this, we conducted a survey of visitors and residents of Ihwa-dong and conducted additional interviews. Indeed we could verify the symptoms of gentrification in the sense of the loss of the history of the region and the process of erosion of community spirit and pride.
