본 연구에서는 부정적 및 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 사회불안의 관계를 알아보고, 이 변인들 간의 관계에서 재확인 추구가 매개효과를 갖는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 과도한 재확인 추구는 위협적인 대상, 상황 혹은 대인 관계적 특징과 관련하여 다른 사람들에게서 괜찮다는 안전 관련 정보를 이미 받았음에도 불구하고, 걱정 혹은 불안을 줄이기 위해 그리고 자신감을 회복할 목적으로 안전 관련 정보를 계속 요구하는 것으로 정의된다. 이 변인이 부정적 및 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 사회불안의 관계를 매개하는지 밝히기 위해, 대학생 439명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 측정도구로는 사회적 상호작용 불안척도(SIAS), 부정적 평가에 대한 두려움 척도(BFNE), 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움 척도(K-FPES), 재확인 추구 척도(RSS)를 사용하였으며, 위계적 중다 회귀분석을 실시하여 매개효과를 검증하였다. 그 결과 재확인 추구가 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 사회불안의 관계를 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움과 사회불안과의 관계를 인지적․행동적인 관점에서 논의하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점, 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between fear of negative and positive evaluation and social anxiety, and also how reassurance seeking mediated those factors. Excessive reassurance seeking has been defined as the repeated solicitation of safety-related information from others about a threatening object, situation, or interpersonal characteristic despite having already received this information with the purpose of seeking to restore a sense of confidence or to reduce anxiety or apprehension. For the purpose of examining the mediating effect of these factors, 439 university students were asked to complete Social Interaction Anxiety Scale(SIAS), Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale(BFNE), Fear of Positive Evaluation Scale(K-FPES), and Reassurance Seeking Scale(RSS). Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to examine mediating effects of reassurance seeking. Results indicated that reassurance seeking partially mediated between fear of positive evaluation and social anxiety. With these results, the relationship between fear of positive evaluation and social anxiety was discussed in terms of cognitive and behavioral aspects. Finally, the clinical implications and several limitations of the present study were discussed.
