고에서는 16세기 말~17세기 전반에 작성된 광산김씨 所志(민원문서)와 諺簡(한글편지), 최진립이 아들 며느리에게 쓴 한문·한글 서간, 그리고 19세기 지방 수령이 향약의 반포를 위해 발행한 진언번등(眞諺翻謄:한문과 한글번역문) 전령(傳令)을 분석하였다. 그 과정에서 한문과 한글은 각기 수수(授受)하는 당사지 등의 능력이나 지위에 따라 최대한 그 장점을 살려 구사되고 있었다. 특히 소송이 증거자료로 쓰인 諺簡, 양반가의 농업 경영방식 기록, ‘죵들 논화지에주고’ 등의 말은 한문 고문서 어디에도 없는 표현이었다. 19세기 왕정의 내용을 기층민인 군민 면민 동민에게 전한 공문서인 전령(傳令)에서 진언(眞諺)이 사용된 점은 백성 편에 선 문자사용이라는 점에서 그 역사성이 높다.

This article analysed three kinds of documents: civil documents 所志 and Hangeul letters 諺簡 by Gwangsan Kim family written in late 16th century and early 17th century, a letter written in Hangeul and Chinese characters by Choi Jinrip to his daughter-in-law, and a message written in Chinese characters and translated in Hangeul 眞諺翻謄 by a local government administrator to proclaim local regulations. Both Chinese characters and Hangeul were used appropriately considering the ability and social standing of readers. Special features found were Hangeul letters used for evidence of law suits, agricultural management of yangban families, and the expression of ‘Jongdeul nonhwajie jugo 죵들 논화지에주고’ which has not been discovered in any other old documents in Chinese characters. Using both Chinese characters and Hangeul letters in official documents delivering messages from royal government to people in dong, gun and myeon unit regions in the 19th century, Joseon government established the tradition of using appropriate letters for people. That has historical importance.
