A Qualitative Case Study the Operation Characteristics and Operation Performances of Community-Based Excercise Rehabilitation Program for the Adults with Disabilities
The purpose of the study was to understand the operation characteristics and performances of exercise rehabilitation programs for adults with disabilities based on community facilities. Two types of exercise rehabilitation program that operated in university and local welfare center for the disabled were selected to carry out the case study. Documents collection, individual in-depth and focus-group interview, and observation were conducted for the date collection, and data analysis was performed depending on method by Downe-Wam-boldt(1992). What these study discovered are as following; First, the operation characteristics of exercise rehabilitation programs were:1) program construction base on the individual motor development stage, 2) development of instructor's professionalism and creativity, 3) complex and cyclical composition of program, 4) securing program accessibility of participants. Second, the main operation performances were:1) health improvements in physical, physiological, psychological, and cognitive-behavioral domains, 2) the necessity and effectiveness verification of exercise rehabilitation program for adults with disabilities and the necessity of development of adapted physical activity experts in the field of exercise rehabilitation for the disabled.
