본 연구는 초현실주의의 르네 마그리트(René Magritte)의 작품 중 중산모(pot hat)가 들어간 작품으로 형식 및 내용의 상징성을 심층적으로 분석하였다. 분석 작품으로는 중산모(pot hat)가 그려진 총 26점의 작품이다. 본 논문에서는 분석 작품소개와 그 중 대표 1-1), 2-4), 3-7)작품만 분석하였다. 분석 방법은 융 학파 압트(Abt)의 융 심리학적 그림해석에 기초하여, 본 연구를 위해 고안된 ‘분석자의 태도’, ‘형식 분석’, ‘내용 분 석’ 3단계를 거쳤고, 작품제작 시기에 따라 3단계로 각 시기마다의 특징을 살펴보았 다. 분석결과, 첫째, 중산착모는 마그리트가 새로운 변화를 꾀 할 때마다 반복적으로 ‘중산모’가 드러났다. 둘째, ‘시기별로 변모해 가는 ‘중산착모’의 위치를 통해서 자신의 무의식과 의식의 상호교류를 시도하였다. 셋째, 방향성은 마그리트의 내면의 심리 변 화 방향의 의미로서, 거의 모든 시기에서 표현된 동시에 제 1시기에는 뒤쪽 방향 응 시로 나타났다. 제 2시기에는 앞, 뒤, 옆. 방향 응시로 보상적인 내향화의 목적을 띠 며, 인물의 얼굴들이 조금씩 나오기 시작했고 제 3시기 사망시기에서 3-15)’, 3-16)’, 3-17)응시 방향은’작품과 나, 자연과 나, 풍경과 나 사이에서의 이상과 삶을 수용하며 외부현실과 정신적 세상이 갈등하지 않고 공존하게 되었음을 보여주었다. 시기별로 변모해 가는 ‘중산착모’의 위치 변화와 응시 방향은 내면의 무의식적인 힘을 통제하기 위해 만든 우상이 실제의 마그리트 자신을 대변하는 중산착모의 방향, 위치 변화를 통해 마그리트가 세상과 관계를 맺고 정신적 가치를 뿌리내리기 위한 시도의 과정을 보여주었다, 본 연구는 분석자의 태도와 형식, 내용을 함께 살펴봄으로써 작품분석연 구에 기초자료를 제공하였다는 점에 의의가 있다.

This srudy has deeply analized symbolism of form and content on René Magritte’s works having surrealism’s character among which ‘pot hat’ was got into. There are all 27 analized works which ‘pot hat’ was described. In this study, I introduced analized works and analized only 3 representative ones, 1-1), 2-4), 3-7). Anaysis method was on the basis of Jung’s psycological picture interpretation of Abt who was a member of Jung’s School, I went through 3 stages designed for this sudy, ‘analyst’ attitude, ‘form analysis’, ‘content analysis’, and examined the characteristics of each time period of the three-stage productions. According to analysis result, first, Wearing a ‘pot hat’ was revealed repeatedly whenever Magritte sought a new change. Second, through periodically transforming direction position which a man wearing a ‘pot hat’ faced, René Magritte attempted their interactions of unconscious and conscious. Third, directivity, as a meaning of Magritte’s inner psychological change direction, was expressed in almost all the time while it was appeared by staring at the rear direction in the first period. At the second period, By staring into the direction of front, back, and side, it had the compensatory purpose of internalization, and started to come out a person’s face a little. At the third period, At the time of death, 3-15)’, 3-16)’, 3-17)’ staring direction accommodated ideals and lives between work and me, nature and me, and landscape and me, and it showed to be coexist without conflicting between the external reality and the mental world. Periodically transforming the position change and direction of a man wearing ‘pot hat’ showed the process which Magritte had established relationship with the world, and had attempted to root mental values through direction and changing position of a man who was wearing ‘pot hat’, who was idol made to control internal unconscious power representing actual Magritte himself. This study is meaningful to provide the basic data on work analysis study by looking at analyst’ attitude, form and content.
