공동주택지와 달리 단독주택지의 보행환경은 체계적이지 못한 도로계획으로 인해 교통안전문제 뿐만 아니라 어린이 보행자를 고려하지 않은 환경으로 주의력이 낮은 초등학생들이 이용에 불편함을 겪기도 한다. 이에 따라 본 연구의 목적은 일산신도시에서 단독주택지에 위치한 초등학교 주변 보행로를 대상으로 보행환경을 분석하고 이용자 만족도를 평가하는 것이다. 현황조사와 설문조사는 일산 단독주택지의 5개 학교를 중심으로 정문과 후문에 면한 보행로 10개 구간을 대상으로 안전성, 편리성, 쾌적성 측면에서 실시하였다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 5개 학교 중 2개 이상 초등학교에서 정문 보행환경 만족도는 차량 통행 만족도, 차량 속도 만족도, 교통안전표지판 만족도, 보행로포장상태 만족도, 보행로포장재료 만족도, 보행로 폭 만족도, 보행로 단차 만족도, 불법 주차차량 만족도, 사람 통행량 만족도와 비교적 높은 상관성을 지니고 있었다. 또한, 5개 학교 중 2개 이상 초등학교에서 후문 보행환경 만족도는 차량통행 만족도, 보행로 단차 만족도와 비교적 높은 상관성을 지니고 있었다. 5개 초등학교에서 보행환경 만족도 차이가 유의했던 항목은 정문에서 보행로 단차, 식재 및 조경, 사람 통행량이었고, 후문에서 자전거 통행량, 교통안전표지판, 보행로포장재료, 사람 통행량인 것으로 나타났다.

Pedestrian environment in detached housing area has a problem with traffic safety caused by unsystematic road plan, inconvenience of use for not taking children into consideration. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pedestrian environment and evaluate the user’s satisfaction around elementary school in detached housing area in Ilsan. A field survey and question investigation were conducted in respect of safety, convenience and comfortability in 10 pedestrian roads of 5 elementary schools in front of main and back gate. The results are summarized as follows. In more than 2 schools, pedestrian satisfaction of main gate is highly correlated with vehicle traffic, vehicle speed, traffic signs, condition of pavement, materials of pavement, width of pedestrian road, difference of floor level, illegal parking and the number of pedestrians. Similarly, in more than 2 schools, pedestrian satisfaction of back gate is highly correlated with vehicle traffic, difference of floor level. In 5 schools’ main gates, there is a satisfaction difference in evaluation items on difference of floor level, planting, the number of pedestrians. In 5 schools’ back gates, there is a satisfaction difference in evaluation items on the number of bikes, traffic signs, materials of pavement, the number of pedestrians.
