The purpose of this study was to examine the job satisfaction of sport instructors and any possible differences among them in that regard according to school environments. The subjects in this study were 337 sport instructors in Gangwon Province. A survey was conducted by mail or in person from June through September, 2013. The instrument used to assess job satisfaction was job satisfaction questionnaire used in Chun Bo-kyung(2011)'s study. This questionnaire was utilized with some modifications to see whether there would be any disparities in the subfactors of job satisfaction according to gender, marital status, the presence or absence of expert teachers of P.E., the grade of students whom they taught, and school size. As a result, the male teachers expressed higher job satisfaction than the female teachers, and the former was statistically significantly more satisfied in terms of relationship with colleagues and work pressure. Whether there would be any differences according to marital status was investigated, and the married teachers were better satisfied than the unmarried ones in terms of future vision, intention of job change and turnover intention. The sport instructors who worked in schools equipped with expert teachers of P.E., who were in charge of lower graders and who worked in schools with 18 classes or more expressed better satisfaction with their occupation than their counterparts who worked in schools without expert teachers of P.E., who were in charge of upper graders and who worked in schools with 16 classes or less, but the differences between the two were not statistically significant. But there were statistically significant differences according to the presence or absence of expert teachers of P.E. The sport instructors who worked in schools equipped with expert teachers of P.E. were statistically significantly more satisfied in terms of work pressure. As for differences according to the grade of students whom they taught, the sport instructors who were in charge of upper graders expressed significantly lower satisfaction in terms of job-change intention and turnover intention than those who were in charge of lower graders. Concerning differences according to school size, the sport instructors who worked in schools with 18 classes or more were more satisfied with their relationship with colleagues. In terms of pay, they weren't satisfied overall. Given the importance of elementary education, it's a critical task to secure stable financial resources as one of sure ways to boost the satisfaction level of sport instructors, and another important task is to raise their pay.
