Despite its short 30 year history, domestic aviation sports has achieved huge development. To enjoy aviation sports, one must have meteorological understanding. And the understanding on meteorology is essential for improvement in aviation sports ability and for preventing accidents. Thus, it is meaningful to examine the status of domestic aviation sports weather service and its improvement measure for the development of aviation sports and meteorology. Accordingly, this study aimed to provide basic resources for aviation sports club members and for safety aviation by examining the status of domestic aviation sports weather service and its improvement measure. As a result, the below improvement measures were suggested. Firstly, the PR and education of aviation sports weather service which is being developed under the Meteorological Administration are the most important. Secondly, it must be compulsory for all associates to take weather education including aviation sports club members. Thirdly, it is necessary to develop various specialized services for each type of aviation sports. Fourthly, the contents accuracy level of aviation sports weather service must be improved. Korea is currently in the early stage in weather service for aviation sports. Therefore, it is necessary to make endeavors to activate weather service in aviation sports through mutual cooperation between the Meteorological Administration providing weather information, affiliate institutions and aviation sports associates.
