In language studies, punctuation research is very important. South Korea and China have a few research papers in punctuation. Few researchers are concernig to the punctuation. Therefore, there is very little contrast in punctuation between Chinese and Korean. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a contrastive analysis and present translation strategy in the use of colon and semicolon in Korean and Chinese. Chinese and Korean colon have three aspects in common and three different points. There is no semicolon in Korean. Chinese semicolon has three functions.
