중국에 있어서 그간 병원 디자인에 대한 대부분의 연구는 다양한 부서의 배치로서 서비스와 기능단위의 배치, 표준 간호단위 형태 등 물리적인 측면에 주로 관심을 두었지, 좋은 병원 환경의 제공 같은 중요한 역할에는 별로 관심이 없었다. 이 연구는 중국 칭다오의 종합병원 환경을 연구대상으로 한다. 사회적 및 환경심리적 연구, 병원의 현장답사, 이론적 연구, 다양한 건축 환경적 요인에 대한 분석을 통하여 환경디자인 문제를 탐구하였다. 칭다오 종합병원 건축에 대한 보다 나은 인간적 환경을 위한 제안은 주차공간 및 녹지면적의 확대, 예술작품이 설치된 중정의 배치, 외래 홀 주변에 편의시설의 배치, 병실에서의 외부조망 확보 및 공공공간에서 몇 가지 감각적 요인의 고려 등을 들 수 있다.

Most of the previous hospital design researches in China mainly focused on the arrangement of services and functional units as the layout of various departments, the form of the typical nursing unit, paying less attention to the important role of the provision of good hospital environment. This paper takes general hospitals’ environments in Qingdao, China as the research object. Social and environmental psychological research, some site visits, theoretical studies, and analysis of various architectural environment factors are made to explore some environment design problems. Suggestions for a better humanistic environment of general hospitals in Qingdao could be the increase of parking space and green area, placement of courtyard with artwork, arrangement of convenient facilities, provision of outdoor views from patient room and consideration of some sensory factors in public space.
