In the course of professional training, translation and interpretation students need to learn terminologies in various fields and improve their linguistic knowledge including collocation in both source language and target language. One of the reasons students make a mistake in producing target texts is inadequate or unnatural collocation. On a premise that by accessing a database of terminology and collocation information, advanced language learners such as translation and interpretation students may develop their target language expression ability effectively, this paper explores a possibility of creating a terminology dictionary with collocation information. With a view to developing a corpus-based terminology and collocation dictionary for translation and interpretation students. a pilot study was conducted to examine a method of constructing a Korean collocation dictionary and a Korean-English collocation dictionary. This paper discusses the findings from the pilot study.
