본고는 중등교육에서 진행되고 있는 중세국어 관련 교육 내용의 현황과 문제점을 살펴보고, 바람직한 중세국어 교육을 위한 내용 선정의 유의점과 선정의 실제를 제안해 보았다. 먼저 교과서 내용에 대한 검토를 통해 ⅰ) 언어와 표기의 특징 혼동 문제, ⅱ) 논란의 여지가 있는 내용의 수록 문제, ⅲ) 기술된 내용의 정확성 문제, ⅳ) 제시된 내용의 균질성 문제를 언급했다. 이어서 중세국어 내용 선정의 유의점을 제시하고 이를 바탕으로 중세국어의 소개 내용과 더불어 표기, 음운, 문법, 어휘, 변화, 문헌자료 및 훈민정음 관련 내용을 선정해 제안했다.

In this paper I considered the current situations and problems of educational contents regarding middle Korean, and showed the caution and practice in selecting desirable educational contents of middle Korean. First of all I mentioned some problems by examining the contents in textbooks as follows: ⅰ) confusion of language and literal notation, ⅱ) inclusion of debatable contents, ⅲ) correctness of reading contents, ⅳ) symmetry of presented contents. Then, I showed caution in selecting contents and suggested a series of contents about middle Korean, relating to introduction to middle Korean, lettering, phonemes, grammar, vocabulary, change, documents and Hunminjeongeum.
