The protection of historic district and city organization is the most important task for preserving historic cities. This has been universally explored by the experts who study in the fields of historic preservation, urban planning and architecture. But now, there are many problems happened in the course of economic constrion and urbanization. This study mainly focused on the Dongguan historic district in Yangzhou. Also, this study analyzed the pattern of protecion and renewal of the historic district on the investigation of the urban design, street environment and buildings with trying to find out a way in the protection and renewal of the historic blocks.
