Most building structures comprising the cities of Korea are solitaire-type building structures. Repetition of the uniform blocks under high building coverage ratio and floor area ratio as well as the same building structure type cause the urban space boring and loses the diversity and identity of applicable city. The purpose of this research is to take a look at the block types and features demonstrated in the urban spatial plan of contemporary Europe and compare them with the urban spatial plan of Korea in a way of taking a look at the developmental scheme of cities in Korea.
