This study has surveyed representative classifications of languages of the world: genealogical classification, morphological typology and word order typology. The genealogical classification is based on the common features that are preserved in daughter languages. The morphological and word order typology is based on the surface structures and word order, respectively. And this study has also looked into the stages that changed SOV English to SVO English, in terms of word order typology and according to Stockwell's hypothesis.
