South Korea, with a high level of political participation through a podcast based Internet or smartphone access, is a critical case for studying podcast and social media in relation to political and social participation. We reviewed some literature and in focus review newspapers and comments from newspapers and iTunes, which the participants posted in the ‘“Naneun Ggomsuda”, its political podcast Web site, which is the most popular in South Korea as well as the 1st ranked in the world. The “Na-ggom-su” is a podcast as a valuable tool for politics participation against country’s conservative mainstream traditional news media which tend to spread false or wrong information. The program is spreading political attention and remains active for young people in 20s, 30s, and 40s. Our study finds critical success factors, includes contents, IT platform, media issues, and suggests practical implications encompassing political, social, and business aspects. Further discussions are also provided.
