This paper starts from a question: do women translators work in female language? Several studies have shown gender differences by comparing translations by men and women from the same original text. Also there are studies which suggest different writing styles between men and women. However the tendency is not always the case; men translators use female language in their translations, when women don't; half of the interviewed college lecturers answered that gender difference is not found in their writing classes. Whether women translators' language exists or not remains not answered until now. A lot of questions remain: gender difference or personal difference?; spoken language alone or as well as written language?; female language as a chosen translation strategy or a given, automatized trait? Translators and translation trainers need to be conscious of the possible existence of gender-differenced language and its influence on translation.
