The purpose of this study is to examine applicability of deep beams in Special Moment Frame(SMF). It has been comparatively analyzed that deformation capacity of connection details by nonlinear finite element analysis. The parameter of analysis is connection detail that has energy absorption elements suggested by the way to reinforce the beam with lateral stiffeners and proposed through many other advanced studies.
As showing in the result of analysis, the model with a triangle type of lateral stiffeners was efficient in reducing strain but it still needs additional studies for application to SMF. The connection detail with energy absorption elements is applicable to SMF as the damage is converged on damper and the plasticity of beam members is definitely reduced.
