According to John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur fund there was a research of women’s employment and unemployment in rural areas of the republic of Buryatia Russia during the period of transition to market economy. The research was carried out in three regions of the republic (Kizhinginskiy, Zaigraevskiy, Ivolginskiy) that represent rural, industrial and suburban parts of it. Analysis of the results characterizes social and economical status of women including the unemployed and working in rural areas. To characterize the status here are six typical situations in the republic during the research.
