본 연구의 목적은 위와 같은 배경에서 이루어진 이태리의 신로마 계획의 도시계획을 중심으로 중요한 특성을 연구하기 위함이다. 1. 신로마는 기존의 도시인 로마의 도로와 연계된 거대한 축선 상에 위치한 도시이다. 그리고 기존의 도시와 근접하게 위치되어 있기 때문에, 도시 자체의 자주적이고 독립적인 도시로서의 기능을 수행할 수 있는 새로운 로마를 창조하기 위한 위성도시의 특성을 나타내고 있다. 2. 신로마의 도시계획을 위한 가장 기본적인 요소들은 고대 로마시대 도시계획과 포럼에서와 같은 역사적인 배경과 이론을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 그리고 신로마는 도시의 질서를 부여하기 위해 강한 방향성과 연속성을 가지고 있는 주축과 부축도로에서 나타나는 축의 요소, 축에 의한 대칭성, 대칭성에서의 질서 있는 구성체계, 신로마 입구부분의 광장과 중앙부분에 위치한 오벨리스크가 있는 광장을 중심으로 계획되었다.

The purpose of this paper is the study on the characteristic of new Rome plan in Italy. The results of study are as follow: 1. The new Rome plan is town which is located on great axial linear with the Rome road of existing city. And because it is closely located from existing city, it appears the characteristic of a satellite town which is able to perform the function as a autonomous and independent town for creation of new Rome. 2. The most principle elements for town planning of new Rome is composed of as its center the historical background and theory as city plan and forum of ancient Roman period. Therefore, new Rome is planned by the elements of axis which is showed in main and secondary axis with strong direction and continuity to give of urban order, symmetry of axis, orderly composition system of symmetry and square of new Rome entrance part, square with obelisk in the center part of new Rome. 3. The most important three principle elements for plan of new Rome is via imperiale, piazza imperiale and artificial lake. This elements has been composed to a central role in the plan of the earliest four planning, the first planning, the continually modified and complemented final planning. And the streets, the square, the important buildings, the artificial lake, the exposition areas are planned with above elements as its center.
