With neologisms we understand not only new lexemes but also new meanings of existing lexemes, when a new sememes are added. The former consists of new lexemes, phrasal lexemes(Phraseolexem) and loan words. The majority of new lexemes are compounds, which is characteristic of German wordßformation. All the corpora of German neologisms, that are not registered in "Deutsches Universal Worterbuch(19963) can be gotten through online-data banks. According to the fields, about 60 German neologisms are being used and they can be classified into six main groups: 1. politics, 2. economics, 3. social life, 4. environment, 5. sports, 6. the other neologisms. Neologisms that add new meanings make up less than 10% of German neologisms. Almost all neologisms are new lexemes, phrasal lexemes and loan words. The majority are originally jargons of certain special fields of society, which are accepted and used as normal expressions in the speech community. For each neologism discussed, its equivalent translation into Korean is suggested.
