A methodology of seismic performance evaluation techniques have been developed, which is based on probability and reliability.
The methodology was developed by the SAC Joint Venture in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
FEMA-355F describes the state-of-the-art methodology for the performance prediction of steel moment-frame buildings excited by earthquake ground motions. That report also presents various performance issues and the basis used for performance evaluation. In this paper, the basis of the methodology, which is probability and reliability framework, and its procedure are
introduced. The methodology provides engineers and researchers with a quantitative value for seismic performance predication or evaluation that is represented by confidence.
