While creativity is generally seen as a talent given to few, research in the area of psychology has shown that it can be learned through training. Although research related to creativity is not very active in translation studies, there are claims that creativity is a prerequisite for production of high-quality TT. If translation teachers and students recognize the need for and the effect of creativity training and conduct such training, it is expected that they can acquire translation competence that can effectively solve such problems as language interference and translationese. This study observes the implications of creativity training for undergraduate students and students at the Graduate School of Interpretation of Translation(GSIT), Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), after conducting a ‘collaborative class’ as a means for creativity training, and analyzing its effects.
