This study attempts to propose an effective method and model for improving competency in English-Korean interpretation using one of ELT(English language teaching) web sites. To investigate its effectiveness, an ELT web site was chosen and was used in a class. The subjects who have participated in this study were twenty-six sophomores in S university, majoring in English. First of all, they have been asked to fill out a questionnaire. For the main purposes of the study, second, four of them were randomly selected for recording of their English- Korean interpretation discourses. Their outputs were transcribed for analysis. The results of the study showed that there is a significant improvement in interpreting competence. Common errors in their interpretation were related to language functions and the use of inappropriate expressions. These show that the tasks related to language functions and appropriate expressions should be reinforced for increasing competency in interpretation. Based on the findings, it is suggested that more sophisticated and authentic web contents should be developed for effective practice of interpretation.
