Journal of the International Network for Korean Language and Culture 15–2. When international students who come to Korea for academic purposes adjust to their new lives, they face linguistic and cultural barriers. Their sense of isolation and anxiety due to cultural barriers is becoming conspicuous as a serious problem. For this reason, this study selected intermediate and advanced Korean language learners and involved conducting lessons on Korean culture and values using film. These films served as an educational medium for direct and indirect exposure to Korean culture by taking the learner’s own culture, as well as Korean culture, into consideration, and avoiding the traditional method of cramming educational content. To observe the change in learners’ perceptions or attitudes, this study divided the survey into three sections: a survey of learners’ perceptions, one of classroom activities, and one following the experiment. The results showed that learners displayed a tendency to view the target culture from the perspective of their own cultures and revealed resistant emotions concerning differences between the target culture and their own. In addition, the results indicated that uniformly cramming educational content into a multi–cultural classroom is no longer viable. Therefore, this study suggests an educational method that takes learners’ cultures into consideration and helps students to empathize and understand different cultures through film. 현재 학문을 목적으로 한국에 유학 온 외국인 학습자들은 한국 생활에 적응하면서 언어적 장벽보다 문화적 장벽에서 오는 고립감과 불안감 이 더 심각한 문제로 두드러지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 외국인 중· 고 급 학습자들을 대상으로 한국 가치문화교육을 기존의 일방적인 주입 식 교육에서 벗어나 영화라는 매체를 활용하여 한국 문화를 직·간접 적으로 체험하면서 자·타문화를 고려한 상호문화를 중심으로 수업 을 진행하였다. 연구는 학습자들의 인식이나 태도의 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 실험 전 학습자들의 인식 조사, 수업 활동, 실험 후 조사로 크게 3단계로 구분하 여 실시하였으며 학습자들은 목표문화에 대해 자문화를 토대로 이해 하려는 경향과 차이에 대해 거부하는 감정을 드러내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 다문화 강의실에서 일괄적인 주입식 교육은 불가능한 것으로 판단하고 학습자들의 모문화 특성을 고려하여 영화를 통해 감 정이입 및 공감함으로써 타문화를 이해하는 교육 방안을 제시하였다.
