The purpose of this study is to identify their needs through the lyrics analysis of 70 songs written by psychiatric patients in E hospital, and to provide ideas for effective application of song writing in the clinical setting. The analysis was a mixed content analysis method proposed by Roberts and McFerran(2013) using inductive and deductive methods. The total of 30 codes were identified through the inductive analysis, which were then summarized into 17 labelled codes – ‘feeling’, ‘encouragement’, ‘sense’, ‘wish & want’, ‘change’, ‘attitude of life’, ‘journey’, ‘awareness’, 'insight into disease’, ‘relationship’, ‘memory’, ‘place’, ‘person’, ‘music’, ‘food/medicine/alcohol’, ‘nature’, ‘supportive environment’. The 17 labelled codes were identified to fall into 8 categories that include ‘emotion/feeling’, ‘life’, ‘awareness’, ‘relationship’, ‘memory’, ‘place’, ‘person’, ‘event/thing’, Finally, these categories were divided into 2 themes - ‘internal resource’ and, ‘external resource’. Lyric analysis of each of the eight categories using the deductive method revealed that the most frequently covered theme in the lyrics was ‘emotion/feeling’, followed by ‘life’, ‘awareness’, ‘relationship’, ‘memory’, ‘place’, ‘person’, and ‘event/thing’. This study suggests that psychiatric inpatients benefit from lyric writing as they have therapeutic experience called ‘resourcing’ which provides them with psycho-social support.

본 연구의 목적은 E병원에 입원한 정신과 환자들이 만든 노래 70곡의 가사 분석을 통해 그들의 필 요를 파악하고, 임상 현장에서 노래 만들기의 효과적 적용을 위한 아이디어를 제공하기 위함이다. 가사분석은 Roberts와 McFerran(2013)이 제시한 혼합된 내용 분석방법(mixed methods content)으 로 귀납적 방법과 연역적 방법을 사용하였다. 귀납적 분석 방법에 따라 도출된 총 30개의 코드 (codes)는 공통된 의미를 가지고 있는 ‘감정’, ‘북돋아줌’, ‘감각’, ‘바램’, ‘변화’, ‘삶의 태도’, ‘여 행’, ‘인식’, ‘병식’, ‘관계’, ‘기억’, ‘장소’, ‘사람’, ‘음악’, ‘음식/약물/알코올’, ‘자연’, ‘지지적 환경 을 제공하는 것’의 17개 코드(labelled codes)로 요약되었다. 요약된 17개의 코드는 이후 ‘감정/느 낌’, ‘삶’, ‘인식’, ‘관계’, ‘기억’, ‘장소’, ‘사람’, ‘사건/사물(thing)’의 8개 카테고리(category)로 범 주화되었으며, 최종적으로 ‘내적 자원’, ‘외적 자원’이라는 2개의 주제(theme)로 분류되었다. 8개 각 각의 카테고리(category)에 해당되는 내용의 가사를 연역적 방법에 따라 분석한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 가사의 내용에서 가장 많이 다루고 있는 내용은 ‘감정/느낌’, ‘삶’, ‘인식’, ‘사건/사물’, ‘사 람’, ‘장소’, ‘관계’, ‘기억’ 순으로 나타났다. 연구 결과 정신과 환자들은 노래 만들기에서 가사 만 들기 방법을 통해 ‘자원화(resourcing)’라는 심리, 정서적 지원과 관련된 치료적 경험을 하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
