The purpose of this study is to extend the scopes of the Donghak ‘Revolution’ from the human society to the entire existence world, the whole ecosystem. For this, we typically used the literature review methodology, and moreover we made a use of various empirical results issued from the research institutes associated with ecological studies. This research includes the following main topics: First, we study the reason why the Donghak thought principally deduce the equality among not only human beings but also all living things. Second, we deal with the practical issue that how the extended ‘revolutionary’ contents based on the former findings can be applied into our life. Some results of this research are the followings: First, the key point of the ecological revolution necessarily excavated from the Donghak thought is to affirm the existence, i.e. it is to respect and accept the appearance and the style for the life, no matter what the existence is. Second, the ecological revolution is started from suppressing the denial of existence, i.e. it is to sublate the all types of violence and killing for all living things in the ecosystem including human beings.

이 연구의 목적은 동학에서 말하는 ‘혁명’의 범위를 인간 사회에서 존재 세계 전체, 즉 생태계 전체로 확장해 보려는 데에 있다. 이에 대한 연구 방법으로는 기본적으로 문헌연구방법론을 채택하였고, 그에 더해 생태 관련 연구 기관들의 다양한 실증 자료를 활용하였다. 이 연구의 내용은, 첫째, 동학사상으로부터 왜 인간 사이의 평등만이 아닌 모든 존재자들 간의 평등이 원리적으로 도출되는 지를 살핀다. 둘째, 이에 기반을 둔 확장된 형태의 ‘혁명적’ 내용은 우리 삶에 어떤 방식으로 적용될 수 있는 가의 실천적 이슈를 다룬다. 이 연구의 결과는, 첫째, 동학사상에서 필연적으로 도출되는 생태혁명의 핵심은 바로 존재 긍정이다. 즉, 그것이 어떤 존재이든 그 자신에게 본연한 삶의 모습과 양식을 있는 그대로 존중하고 수용하는 것이다. 둘째, 생태혁명은 존재 부정을 억제하는 것으로부터 시작한다. 즉, 인간은 물론 생태계 전체 구성원들에 대한 모든 형태의 폭력과 살상을 지양해가는 것이다.
