This study utilizes Interpretative Phenomenologicaal Analysis(IPA) to look at the experiences of countertransference of six music therapy internship students who have worked for their practicum during master's program in psychiatric hospital at Seoul. IPA allowed the researcher to describe the essence of the participant's experiences of countertransference and the meaning making process of their reactions of countertransference over the course of the music therapy sessions on psychiatric patients. Therapists's report about their experiences of countertransference during the therapy sessions and the transcribed verbatim about the countertransference issues from the therapists. The results showed that the experiences of countertransference with music therapy internship students were consisted of following three parts：1) factors which provoked therapist's countertransference(client's contextual factors and therapist's contextual factors), 2) diverse countertransference feelings and thoughts(hate, anger; feelings of perplexed, confused, helplessness; anxiety; feelings of overburdened, guilt), and 3) therapist's reaction on countertransference issues(controlling, distancing, overinvolving).

본 연구는 서울 소재 정신과 병원에서 음악치료 인턴쉽 과정을 수료한 음악치료 인턴 6명을 대상으로 이들이 치료 과정 중 느꼈던 역전이 경험 현상을 해석적 현상학적 분석 방법을 적용하여 심층적으로 분석한 것이다. 음악치료 인턴이 경험하게 되는 역전이 현상에 대한 심층적인 기술과 이해, 그리고 이러한 역전이 감정과 생각에 대한 치료사의 반응이 내담자와의 치료적 관계와 상담의 향후 전개에 미친 영향에 대해 맥락적으로 의미 부여하는 것을 탐구하기 위해 해석적 현상학적 분석 방법을 기본적인 방법론으로 채택하였다. 본 연구 결과, 음악치료 인턴의 역전이 경험 현상은 첫째, 역전이를 불러일으키는 맥락적 요인들(클라이언트의 맥락적 요인과 직접적 행동, 치료사의 개인적 특성이나 과거 경험과 같은 맥
락), 둘째, 역전이라는 이름으로 느끼게 되는 다양한 감정과 생각들(미움, 분노, 당황, 혼란, 좌절감, 불안, 부담, 죄책감), 셋째, 이러한 역전이 감정과 생각들에 대한 치료사의 대처 전략(통제하기, 거리두기, 과잉 관여하기)으로 드러났다.
