The present paper offers an overview of corpus-based translation studies(CTS) with discussions of key concepts and procedures involved in carrying out translation studies employing corpus linguistics techniques. The topics covered in this paper include theoretical background of CTS with particular attention to its relationship with Toury’s descriptive translation studies and Even-Zohar’s polysystem theory, the merits of CTS, types of corpus used in CTS and research topics relevant to each type, corpus building process including issues of representativeness and annotation, and the array of statistical tests essential for ensuring reliability of research findings.
