This study aims to explore, from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, ways to investigate the translation of frame knowledge and metaphor in translation studies. It first briefly introduces frame semantics and conceptual metaphor theory. It proposes four major patterns and some minor patterns of frame relations between source and target languages, explicates their characteristics, and examines various aspects of translation of frame knowledge. It also proposes twelve patterns of metaphor relations between source and target texts, examines their characteristics, and discusses several aspects of metaphor translation. These patterns could be utilized in analyzing the translation of frame knowledge and metaphor in translation studies.
